ASELSAN will share its capabilities in communications, air defense, avionics, electro-optics, electronic warfare, radar and unmanned systems with local and foreign visitors at the 16th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF 2023) to be held in Istanbul on July 25-28. The company will also introduce its technologies in the civilian field, especially in energy, transportation and health.
Wind turbines are one of the areas of focus of ASELSAN, which has been working on critical infrastructures for a while to end the technological foreign dependency in the field of renewable energy.
The generator, power converter, control system software and SCADA system developed by ASELSAN using its 45 years of experience and knowledge in the military field will be used in the wind turbines to be produced.
The wind power plant is planned to be installed in Alaçatı in the second half of 2024.
Developing the critical components (generator, power converter, control system software and SCADA system) of Turkey’s first domestic wind turbine with a power capacity of 4.3 megawatts, ASELSAN will install and commission 2 wind turbines with a tower height of 100 meters and a rotor diameter of 136 meters in the Alaçatı Wind Power Plant (RES) field, within the scope of the contract signed with Elektrik Üretim AŞ.
In addition to being the first domestic product at these power levels, the turbines to be installed will be the wind turbines with the highest locality rate to be installed in Turkey to date, thanks to the products developed and the use of the domestic supply chain.
Within the scope of the project, many wind turbine components that have not been domestically produced in Turkey before have started to be produced locally with ASELSAN and the established supply chain. The prototype production of the generator and power converter developed by ASELSAN engineers has been completed and the tests will be carried out in the over-megawatt power electronics test laboratory, which was also started by the company. The test laboratory, which is under construction, will be the first test laboratory of this strength in Turkey and will also be able to perform engine and driver tests used in military platforms.
The wind turbines are planned to be installed on site in the second half of 2024.
Focusing on the renewable energy field, ASELSAN Energy Systems develops inverters of different capacities for solar power plants and power electronic components that can be used in energy storage systems, in addition to wind energy. It also offers solutions for oil, natural gas, wind and solar energy fields in SCADA systems.
