A very special preparation was made for the 14-day space mission of the first Turkish astronaut Alper Gezeravcı. Gezeravcı’s clothing was made in Ankara using local and national resources.
These clothes were manufactured in the Air Sewing House Directorate of the General Directorate of Military Factories of the Ministry of National Defense. TRT Haber captured the work in the sewing room where the clothing is prepared.
Design samples were made in different fabrics, colors and models for the suit of the first Turkish astronaut. The most important points in the design were the suitability of the suit for space conditions and Alper Gezeravcı’s comfort.
The feedback received from Alper Gezeravcı had an impact in the design phase of the outfit. The suit produced can be used in space missions due to its anti-static ability.
