Luna-25 was launched on 11 August with a “Soyuz 2.1b” rocket from the Vostochniy cosmodrome, 5,500 kilometers east of Moscow.

Luna-25, which will conduct research on the Moon for about 1 year, will examine the effects of space rays and electromagnetic emissions on the lunar surface, as well as searching for water.
