Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu, in his written statement on cyber attacks, stated that the corporate Cyber Incidents Response Team (SOME) was established in 2013 and 2 thousand 125 people work within SOME.
“In 2022, we prevented 138,445 cyber attacks with domestic and national applications.” Using the expression, Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that the SOME Communication Platform (SIP) was developed in order to share alarm, warning and security notifications between the National Cyber Incidents Response Center (USOM) and SOMEs. Karaismailoğlu noted that with the increasing number of users, malicious acts and hacking increased, and digital attacks were carried out at corporate, systematic and supranational level.
More than 664 thousand cyber attacks prevented in 6 years
Expressing that the number of blocked cyber attacks has reached 664 thousand 263 in the last 6 years, Karaismailoğlu drew attention to the fact that the access of 72 thousand 226 malicious connections detected within the scope of USOM studies was blocked in 2022.
Karaismailoğlu also stated that 14,833 cyber security notifications were made in order to take measures against institutions and organizations in the last year, and stated that the attacks occurred as distributed denial-of-service (DDoS), phishing (Phishing) and spam.
Emphasizing that they have taken serious precautions regarding cyber security, Karaismailoğlu said:
“With the Cyber Security Operations Center, the installation work of which was completed within the Information Technologies and Communications Authority, we enabled 24/7 uninterrupted monitoring of the business and transactions between USOM and operators and, if necessary, enabling actions to be taken without losing time. We also ensure our security at our cyber gates, like our border gates, with domestic and national applications. Security at cyber gates is just as important as our border gates.”
